Amber Haque
Amber Haque is a presenter and documentary maker who brings a fresh approach to hard-hitting documentaries for younger audiences. She specialising in telling raw, human stories and compelling investigations that reveal something about the world we live in - with empathy, warmth and adventure at the centre. An NCTJ-accredited journalist who won a place on the BBC’s prestigious Journalism Trainee Scheme, her UK and international films have made headlines and been watched by millions on BBC iPlayer, The One Show, Victoria Derbyshire, BBC News at Six, BBC World Service and CBS in the USA.
Amber was named as a ‘One To Watch’ at Edinburgh TV Festival and recently presented the BBC Three flagship true crime series “Hometown: A Teenage Killing,” which led to MPs and the Parliamentary APPG board calling for a change in policy on youth violence. She’s currently presenting a Panorama investigation for BBC One and developing documentary ideas in the USA and India. Amber is a versatile content maker who gains the trust and privileged access into the communities and worlds she explores. She has reported on a huge variety of topics - from hidden gender violence and investigating true crime, to the sustainability of Ibiza’s clubbing culture and environmental scandals. Amber Haque’s weekly True Crime podcast for BBC Sounds will be launching this year.
She is becoming a trusted name and offers a unique style as a presenter who fronts her own original stories and is just as comfortable challenging big authorities, as she is handling unfolding violent scenes with gang members. Amber is regularly asked to contribute to pivotal conversations at some of the most important festivals in broadcasting, on panels for Sheffield Doc Festival, Edinburgh TV Festival, Freeview TV and Press Association - contributing her take as a diverse, young female presenter on the future of the industry.
When not knee-deep in research, you can find Amber in the stands at Manchester United. She was recently a guest on the Devil’s Advocate podcast, talking about Kobbie Mainoo and all things Manchester United. Amber also regularly plays a live techno set in her DJ duo ‘Kakura.’ Combining her love for electronic music and filmmaking, she regularly interviews superstar DJs such as BLOND:ISH, Hot Since 82, Bedouin and the Mambos Brothers in her second home, Ibiza. Amber strives to be a respected documentary maker and to continue to explore the human condition across the globe, with her natural curiosity and flare for storytelling.
