One of the original godfathers of UK garage DJ Spoony, recently embarked on a new live venture called Garage Classical, working alongside acclaimed composer and conductor Katie Chatburn and the esteemed Ignition Orchestra. Garage Classical has in turn become a force within the live and orchestra world’s with a string of high profile performances in some of the UK’s most iconic venues. Following on from two iconic, sold-out shows at The Barbican and Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo, which saw the original Dreem Teem member curate and craft classic tracks bringing out special guests including Ms Dynamite, Mike Skinner & The Heartless Crew; Spoony and Chatburn went onto to record and release a high-energy studio album released via RCA/Sony featuring the likes of Lily Allen, The Sugababes and many more.
More recently Garage Classical remarkably sold out shows at the Roundhouse, x2 Royal Festival Halls; bookmarking a moment in time for the Garage genre, bringing out a flurry of huge surprise special guests including Craig David, Emeli Sande, Paloma Faith, So Solid and a roll-call of the ‘who’s who’ of Garage Royalty.
Summer 2022 saw another ground-breaking moment, selling out Kew The Music, a 7,000 capacity outdoor headline show embedded in the glorious grounds of West London’s stunning Kew Gardens.
2024 saw Spoony and Garage Classical sell out one of the world’s most iconic venues The Royal Albert Hall (for the second time). The show sold out in 5 days and featured the likes of So Solid, Shola Ama, Kele Le Roc, MJ Cole, Elisabeth Troy and many more.
