Made In Social Housing is a celebration of social housing. It looks to challenge and shift attitudes by shining a light on the positive impact it has had on the lives of people who grew up in it and to wider society. Decades of failure to build enough social housing has left the country’s housing emergency at tipping point. With 1.3 million households in England stuck on the social housing waiting list and 145,800 children homeless and living in temporary accommodation, there has never been a greater need for quality social homes.
'Growing up in a social home meant support for me and my family - there was definitely a sense of community. It's made me who I am. And I don't think I would change it because I quite like who I am and who its created.'
— Yinka Bokinni, radio and television presenter.
“Working with the team at Insanity on Shelter’s Made In Social Housing campaign has been an absolute pleasure from start to finish. We are thrilled to have Yinka Bokinni onboard, generously sharing her inspiring story on how growing up in a social home, shaped the person she is today and all that she has achieved. We can’t thank Courtneay Mann (Senior Talent Manager) enough for being so efficient and brilliant to work with – her genuine passion for the cause shone through. It really was the cherry on the top when Courtneay shared her own success story with us, learning that she too was #MadeinSocialHousing - We are so grateful to Courtneay for kindly sharing a quote about her journey to also support the campaign, that will be going live next month. Made In Social Housing has been a huge success so far, raising awareness around the desperate need for more social homes, whilst homelessness stats in the UK are sadly at an all-time high. Thank you again to the team at Insanity for being an integral part of this important campaign.”
